In observance of the “Hubo” ritual for the Santo Niño de Cebu, the University of San Carlos Press and the Basilica Minore del Santo Niño will host a talk and signing of the book, “The Feast of the Santo Niño: An Introduction to the History of a Cebuano Devotion,” on Friday, January 20, at the Aula Magna of the Basilica Minore del Santo Niño.
Authored by USC’s lone Emeritus Professor, Dr. Resil Mojares, founding director of the USC Cebuano Studies Center, the 140-page softcover is the most comprehensive work yet on the Cebuano love for the miraculous image of the Holy Infant from its finding on April 28, 1565 to the present.
The event, which is open to the public, will begin with Holy Mass officiated by Fra Pacifico Nohara, OSA, prior of the Basilica, at 2 pm at the Pilgrims Center, followed by the book talk and official signing by the author at 3:30 to 5 p.m.
Copies of the book, priced at P350, will be available to the public both at the Basilica gift shop and at the Aula Magna during the event.
