ALUMNA ADMITTED TO UHOUSTON LAW

Maria Theresa R. Chua of the BSMA May 2003 and BSA October 2003 batch was admitted to the University of Houston Law Center. Ms. Chua has the unique distinction of having graduated with two degrees in the same calendar year. She graduated cum laude Bachelor of Science in Management Accounting (BSMA) in May 2003 and in the same year, after having completed all the qualifying exams, including the two required Comprehensive Examinations and 200 hours of practicum, graduated cum laude Bachelor of Science in Accountancy (BSA) in October 2003.

Ms. Chua, your alma mater is indeed proud of you!

THE FIRST BATCH OF EXECUTIVE MBA GRADUATES INDUCTED INTO THE USC COC ALUMNI ASSOCIATION

October 13, Thursday : A historic day for the College of Commerce and the USC COC Alumni Association. The first batch of ExMBA Graduates, twenty two of them, was inducted as members of the USC COC Alumni Association by Atty. Mel Libre, one of the Board Members, during the Graduation Ball at the Casino de Espanol. It was indeed a memorable occasion. Present at the oath taking were Fr. Roderick C. Salazar, Jr., SVD, President of USC, Fr. Theodoro P. Gapuz, SVD, Vice President for Academic Affairs, Fr. Ted Murnane, SVD, Director, International Linkages, members of the faculty and Alumni Association, the graduates themselves and their family and friends.

After a sumptuous dinner, the Dean, Fr. Mark C. Mathias, SVD, welcomed the guests and congratulated the new graduates for their perseverance. He also thanked the new graduates for their confidence in USC, the faculty for their dedication and the USC Administration for their support. Fr. Roderick C. Salazar, Jr., SVD, the President, in his inspirational message lauded the new graduates on their success and challenged them to make a difference in the lives of others by living the Carolinian motto of being a “Witness to the WORD”.

The second and the third batch of the ExMBA will graduate coming March 2005.

ALUMNI ASSOCIATION BOARD MEMBERS MEET GRADUATING STUDENTS

October 10, Monday: A few members of the USC COC Alumni Association lead by Carmelita L. Piramide, Devin C. Go and Beth S. Villarin met the graduating students of October 2005 at the USC AVR 1 at 5.30 PM. Ms. Piramide provided the graduates with a short pep talk assuring them of the support of the Alumni Association in their future professional life and encouraged them to keep in touch with the Association by joining the Yahoo group (groups.yahoo.com/groups/usccommerceaai). The Dean, Fr. Mark C. Mathias, SVD requested the graduating class to become members of the Association and keep in touch with their Alma Mater.

Dr. Villarin, the MC for the occasion thanked the participants. Merrienda followed!!
