The University of San Carlos, represented by University President Fr. Dionisio Miranda, SVD, and the Mandaue City Government, represented by Vice Mayor Carlo Fortuna, signed a new Memorandum of Agreement that seals a special partnership between USC and Mandaue City.
The signing ceremony took place at the Office of the Mandaue City Mayor last July 25, 2017. The partnership started when the USC Department of Computer Engineering, through the Section Head of the Software Engineering Cluster, Engr. Christine Marie Gohetia, deployed a web-based application system to the City Planning Development Office (CPDO).
The system serves as a web portal for the people of Mandaue to view the projects being undertaken by the city government with details about the contractors, the approved budget, and the project duration. Completed projects are also posted. Aside from the visual representation of the projects, the community users can also post their comments and feedback, notifying the city government of their concerns. On the part of the CPDO, which is the administrator of the web portal, it manages the projects and acts upon the concerns of the community users.
Present during the MOA signing were representatives from the Manduae City Engineering Office as well as the Department of Public Works and Highways. These two offices play an important part in the partnership as they too can post projects that they are undertaking.
The web based application system is an important tool used for the communication and monitoring and management of the projects of Mandaue City.
