Cebu Landmasters Foundation, Inc. (CLFI) signed a memorandum of agreement with the University of San Carlos today, July 26, 2022, to enroll scholars from CLFI’s Leadership and Educational Assistance Program (LEAP) in several University flagship programs.
Jose Gabriel B. Soberano, CLFI Corporate Secretary, represented the foundation while University President Fr. Narciso A. Cellan Jr., SVD, D.Comm. signed on behalf of USC. Soberano is the youngest scion of the Jose R. Soberano III, Chairman and President of Cebu Landmasters, Inc. (CLI); the elder Soberano also sits in the Board of Trustees of the University.
Beneficiaries of the scholarships are academically deserving but financially challenged students who are dependents of CLI employees. These students will be enrolling into the Accountancy, Architecture, and Engineering programs of USC.
Signing as witnesses of the agreement were USC Assistant Vice President for Academic Affairs Atty. Joan S. Largo, Ll.M. and Vera R. Alejandria, Sustainability and Foundation Manager for CLFI.
The MOA signing was also witnessed by Menandro C. Daclan (CLFI Community Relations Officer), Ar. Margret D. Rosario, M.T.E. (Dean, School of Architecture, Fine Arts, and Design), Rosana J. Ferolin, D.I.T. (Dean, School of Engineering), Patrick John Y. Lim, Ph.D. (Director, Research, Development, Extension, and Publications Office), Elizabeth M. Remedio, Ph.D. (Assistant Director, Office of Naming Rights, Endowments, and Sponsorships), Ferdinand S. Boncayao (Director, Office of Alumni Affairs, Scholarships, and Job Placements), and Engr. Ricardo L. Fornis, M.Eng. (Chair, Department of Civil Engineering).
