USC mourns the passing of former registrar Jayme

The University of San Carlos mourns the demise of retired University Registrar Sencio Norberto Jayme.

Mr. Jayme, or Sir Bert, as he was fondly called, was a partner in mission at USC from June 1974 until his retirement in December 2006. He served as the University Registrar from 2001 to 2006.

The entire Carolinian community is requested to pray for the repose of Sir Bert’s soul.

A tribute to Sir Bert

I was a working student way back in 1977 when he was the Head of the Archives of the Record Section. He was then appointed as Head of the Evaluation Section when the Assistant Registrar/Head Evaluation Section at that time resigned.

When Mr. Roberto V. Iratagotia retired in 2001, Sir Bert became the University Registrar until his own retirement in 2006.

Sir Bert was a strict administrator but a God-fearing person with a soft heart.

He was frank and straightforward. When he said “no,” he meant it. He was an obedient leader who strictly followed and implemented the policies and regulations of the University.  “The law is the law and a policy is policy.” That’s what he believed in.

During his tenure as University Registrar, he mingled with his subordinates and cracked jokes. Even when he already retired and lived in Moalboal, Cebu, he still had the time to say “hi” and “hello” to us here in Talamban whenever he came to the city.

May he find rest with his Creator and may he be with Him in the Eternal Paradise.

Tribute by Epifania Dizon (Academic Evaluator)
