The University of San Carlos marks a new milestone as it appears in the 2024 QS World University Rankings (WUR) for the first time.
This was announced by Quacquarelli Symonds (QS) during the global release of the 2024 QS WUR at 9:00 p.m. on June 27, 2023 (BST, or 4:00 a.m., June 28th, PST).
QS ranked USC in the 1,201–1,400 range and is classified as a medium-sized university with high research intensity. USC ranked highest on two indicators, namely academic reputation (601+) and employer reputation (601+) with the highest indicator score coming from employment outcomes.
One of the world’s leading ranking institutions, QS evaluated 2,963 higher education institutions in 104 locations worldwide in its 20th edition this year. Only five universities in the Philippines are included in the World University Rankings for 2024.
USC ranked third among the Philippine institutions in citations per faculty with 3,556 normalized citations based on Scopus bibliometric data from 497 normalized papers between 2017–2021.
USC was previously ranked in the QS Asia University Rankings in 2021. The University’s inclusion in the QS WUR represents another highlight as USC celebrates its 75th anniversary as a university.
The University administration expresses its heartfelt gratitude to alumni, industry partners, students, faculty and staff members for their contributions, collaborations, and service to USC as it continues to shape Cebu and the country.
