Two teams from the USC Department of Business Administration and Department of Accountancy ranked 2nd and 4th runners up, respectively, in the 2023-2024 Chartered Financial Analyst (CFA) Institute Investment Research Challenge Local Finals held via Zoom on February 23.
Out of 31 teams from 23 universities in the Philippines, the Carolinian students competed as part of the top six finalists. They were the only representatives from the Visayas and Mindanao regions who made it to the finals.

- Jherald Arellano

The investment research competition, which was organized by the CFA Society Philippines, aims to prepare students for the annual CFA Regional and Global Competition.
As such, it provides students with intensive and hands-on training in financial analysis, valuation, writing, and financial reporting.
The two winning Carolinian teams were under the mentorship of Leonard Chua, CFA, and Angelo O. Burdeos, a faculty member of the USC Department of Business Administration.
The Carolinian teams referenced their group names to the landmarks in Cebu to serve as a trademark and mark the team’s identity.
With these achievements, the University of San Carlos celebrates another milestone where students bring pride and success to the university and at the same time, the entire region.
