Carolinian Political Science Society sweeps CAPSO Days

The Carolinian Political Science Society (CPSS) won most of the awards in the recently concluded 2018 Cebu Association of Political Science Organizations (CAPSO) Days last February 3-10.

CAPSO is the official body of Political Science Student Organizations from the different Higher Education Institutes (HEI) in Cebu. This year’s celebration showcased an essay writing contest, sports competitions (basketball, volleyball, and badminton), and Mr. and Miss CAPSO.

Mary Elizah Castillo, AB PoSc LPS 3, won the essay writing contest and CPSS was also champion in basketball, volleyball, and badminton. Jamil Faisal Adiong, AB PoSc PMD 4, grabbed the title of Mr. CAPSO 2018, while Danielle Frances Oporto, AB PoSc IRFS 3, was 2nd Runner-up for Ms. CAPSO 2018.

This year’s theme was “Transcending Discord, Revitalizing Camaraderie” which intended to strengthen the ties between political science student organizations and their members through various events and contests as well as to empower the Cebuano community in light of pressing political issues that our country is facing. Although the CAPSO Days was formally concluded last February 10 with an awarding ceremony, a CAPSO Research Conference is expected to take place later this month.

The University of Cebu hosted this year’s celebration, in active collaboration with other HEIs in Cebu, namely University of San Jose-Recoletos, University of the Visayas, Cebu Normal University, University of the Philippines, and the University of San Carlos.
