The Physics departments of the University of San Carlos (USC) and the Visayas State University (VSU conducted the very first USC-VSU AstroCamp 2024 on April 24–25, 2024 in Baybay, Leyte.

The camp is part of the worldwide celebration of Global Astronomy Month and one of the many activities during the week-long commemoration of the 100th founding anniversary of VSU (formerly ViSCA).

Viscan students (from all levels), parents, and faculty participated in this two-day event that featured Astronomy film shows, lectures, workshops, and a night sky observation. 

Meanwhile, delegates from the USC Physics and Astronomy Society led by Harold Bulanon brought telescopes to showcase and use to observe various astronomical objects such as the planet Jupiter, the Moon, and a few star clusters and nebulae.

Aside from the academic activities, the VSU Applied Physics Society also prepared games and entertainment for the whole duration of the stargazing event.

This collaboration was made possible through a Memorandum of Agreement between USC and VSU which was spearheaded by the VSU Department of Physics Chair, Dr. Rev Aure.
