USC EPIC director Jugar, one of leading experts in AUN workshop on qualifications excellence

Richard R. Jugar, Ph.D., director of the University of San Carlos Educational Practices, Instruction and Curriculum (EPIC) Development Office, is one of the leading experts who will conduct the Mastery Training Workshop on Qualifications and Excellence on June 25-27, 2025, in Bangkok, Thailand.

Organized by the ASEAN University Network (AUN) in partnership with Southeast Asian Ministers of Education Organization (SEAMEO) Regional Centre, the three-day intensive programme will offer “a unique blend of expert-led sessions and practical exercises” that will focus on different tools and hands-on exercises to help academic staff, directors, department heads, and support teams to modernize curriculum design.

Dr. Jugar is a prominent figure in higher education reform and is known for leading the student workload-based curricular planning in the Philippines’ higher education. He also helped different institutions enhance academic quality and gain global recognition through the Measuring and Comparing Achievements of Learning Outcomes in Higher Education in Asia (CALOHEA) Project.  Currently, he serves as Special Advisor to the AUN.

From his stint as USC’s Director for Basic Education, to Dean of the School of Education, and now as the EPIC Director, Dr. Jugar has consistently researched and developed strategies to ensure that educational institutions, such as the University of San Carlos, remain competitive and adaptive to the changing educational landscape.
