Estepa, SVD, Ph.D., President, University of San Carlos; Rosana J. Ferolin, D.I.T., Dean, USC School of Engineering; Engr. Gabriel Dominic R. Baygan, Chair, USC Department of Mechanical and Manufacturing Engineering.

Initiated by the USC Department of Mechanical and Manufacturing Engineering, this internship collaboration reaffirms the shared commitment of both institutions to providing meaningful industry immersion experiences that bridge classroom learning with real-world engineering practice.

Through this partnership, all Engineering students from the University of San Carlos will gain practical exposure to steel manufacturing operations, industrial processes, workplace safety, quality management, and professional engineering practices under the guidance of experienced industry professionals.

The internship program is designed to cultivate technical competence, critical thinking, leadership, teamwork, and professional ethics—essential qualities expected of future mechanical engineers and other engineering professionals.

Working alongside industry practitioners, the students will apply their academic knowledge to real-world engineering challenges while developing the confidence and skills needed to excel in their future careers.

Establishing this On-the-Job Training (OJT) agreement aims to foster not just competent and industry-ready graduates, but also socially responsible professionals who contribute to the advancement of Philippine industries.

Together, USC and Steel Asia continue to strengthen the vital connection between academia and industry—creating opportunities that inspire learning, innovation, and professional growth.
