USC’s business students dominate AmCham’s Leadership Program

The American Chamber of Commerce of the Philippines, Inc. (AmCham) officially launched this year’s Business Leadership Program in June 7, 2021 and USC’s School of Business and Economics students grabbed major awards given during its culminating activity on July 7th.

The team of Business Administration students representing USC at the AmCham Business Leadership Program (L-R): Mary Nathalie Hortezano, Mark Joseph Daclan, Kate Alesson Laurente, Arvin Justin Lim, and Charlene Mae Chan.

AmCham gathers the “best of the best” student delegates all over the Philippines annually for a month-long program where participants are given the opportunity to join panel discussions and listen to keynote speeches of top industry leaders.

On top of that, a business case competition is also conducted where delegates were grouped into teams of five to propose a social enterprise whose aim is to provide solutions to two of the United Nations’ Social Development Goals.

This year, USC had the largest delegation among all participating business schools nationwide. The Carolinian team is composed of senior Business Administration students namely B.S.B.A. Finance Management majors Charlene Mae Chan, Kate Alesson Laurente, Arvin Justin Lim, and Mary Nathalie Hortezano, and B.S.B.A. Marketing Management major Mark Joseph Daclan.

Three members of the USC delegation bagged awards for the top three best business plans.  Mark Joseph Daclan from Team 1 won first place while Mary Nathalie Hortezano from Team 5 won second place, and Charlene Mae Chan from Team 2 won third place. Daclan also won the Best Male Presenter award.

Aside from the business plan competition, the Philippines’ biggest real estate agency consultancy and property management company, Santos Knight Frank, also launched a video competition in which USC grabbed both 2nd place (Daclan) and 3rd place (Laurente) awards.
