The University of San Carlos was declared as the overall champion during the culminating event of the Accounting Quiz Bowl organized by the Cebu Federation–Junior Philippine Institute of Accountants (CF-JPIA) on July 14, 2021. USC’s accountancy students successfully defended their championship titles in both Levels I and II of the competition.

Juniors Rieko Maria Diaz and Mathia Ruiz represented the University for the Level I category where they clinched the championship. Diaz also won first place for the individual category while Ruiz ranked fourth. 

Meanwhile, seniors Kyra Shane Buhia and Rica Mae Albiso also emerged as the champions in the Level II category with Buhia securing first place and Albiso winning second in the individual ranking.

The Level I Quiz Bowl challenged the participants’ knowledge on Intermediate Accounting, Cost Accounting, Conceptual Framework and Accounting and Standards, and Law on Sale, Obligations, and Contracts. On the other hand, the Level II quiz bowl tested the participants mastery on Advanced Accounting, Management Accounting and Control, Auditing and Assurance, Taxation, and Regulatory Framework for Business Transactions.

The Quiz Bowl was part of the activities conducted for Accountancy Week 2021 and was held virtually via Zoom and live streamed on CF-JPIA’s Facebook page.
