Biology Dept, PSM conduct microbiology seminar-workshop

The University of San Carlos Department of Biology, in collaboration with the Philippine Society for Microbiology (PSM), Inc. Visayas Chapter, held a two-day seminar-workshop on “Exploring Bacterial Susceptibility Testing Assays” on October 4 to 5, 2024 at the Arnoldus Science Complex, USC Talamban Campus, Cebu City.

The event created a valuable platform for academic gathering, fostering initial collaboration, and promoting professional growth among participants. It also highlighted the increasing relevance of microbiology in addressing global health challenges, deepening the participants’ understanding, engagement, and methodologies in conducting antimicrobial assay.

Participants of the workshop had the opportunity to learn or enhance their microbiology skills in the USC laboratories.

A total of 32 participants comprising of faculty members, researchers, and students from 10 universities in the Visayas region attended the event, namely: Cebu Doctor’s University, University of San Jose-Recoletos, Cebu Institute of Technology University, Northern Iloilo State University, Silliman University, Iloilo State University FST, Eastern Visayas State University, University of the Visayas, Palompon Institute of Technology, Visayas State University, University of Negros Occidental Recoletos and two medical institutions, namely the Asia Pacific Medical Center, Iloilo City and the Virology and Vaccine Research Program of DOST ITDI in Manila.
