Student mobility experiences shared at ASEAN Caravan 2026

Reinforcing its position as a hub for connecting local talent with global opportunities, the University of San Carlos hosted the second leg of the ASEAN Caravan 2026 on August 13 at the Fr. Albert van Gansewinkel Hall in the USC Downtown Campus.

Held in partnership with the Commission on Higher Education Regional Office 7 and the Association of International Relations Officers Region 7 (AIRO R7), the event centered on the theme “Sojourn Stories: ASEAN Mobility Experiences.”

USC became an interactive library of inspirational journeys as student mobility alumni from USC, University of the Visayas, Cebu Technological University, and University of San Jose-Recoletos took center stage to share their experiences—from the application process to their cultural immersion and academic growth across ASEAN countries (see photo below).

Sojourn open forum

The forum was graced by CHED Regional Director Dr. Filomena T. Dayagbil, USC President Fr. Francisco Antonio T. Estepa, SVD, Ph.D., and AIRO R7 Officers led by President Dr. Janet A. Mananay. AIRO R7 Vice President-Internal and USC Assistant Director for External Relations and Internationalization, Kenneth G. Opina, spearheaded the session. 

To cap off the event, Rochelle M. Razo, Executive Director of Partnerships for Sustainability Education, presented the NextGen Leaders Sustainability Program in Singapore, offering attendees from the different institutions a glimpse into their next potential mobility opportunity.

The gathering was hosted to encourage students to step beyond the familiar and turn their exchange ambitions into reality.
