The University of San Carlos School of Engineering has officially achieved Tier 1 status under the Philippine Technological Council (PTC) Tier Classification System (TCS). Recommended by the PTC Accreditation and Certification Board for Engineering and Technology (PTC-ACBET), this top-tier ranking means USC successfully hit the highest standards across three major areas.

Tier Criterion 1
This tier rates the national and/or regional significance of the institution, its Engineering unit and Engineering programs. Passing this tier criterion proves that the University’s engineering programs do not just engage in teaching—they actively shape our region’s growth and build powerful global connections.
Tier Criterion 2
Building on this community impact, fulfilling Tier Criterion 2–Institutional Leadership, Governance and Management, confirms that USC is operated with absolute integrity and strong leadership, masterfully balancing public trust with highly sustainable resources.
Tier Criterion 3
Finally, meeting Tier Criterion 3–Quality Leadership, Quality System and Strategies shows a deep, everyday commitment from University leadership to keep our academic standards world-class, embedding internal systems that guarantee our education matches global benchmarks.
Implications for future students
What does this actually mean for us?
It officially cements USC as a premier national leader in engineering education and a model that other institutions look up to. Even better, this milestone secures elite international recognition under the Washington Accord and places USC on the prestigious Federation of Engineering Institutions of Asia and the Pacific (FEIAP) register.
For current and future Carolinians, this is a total game-changer. It guarantees your degree holds real global weight, ensuring it is viewed as fully equivalent to degrees in other signatory countries, making it much easier for you to practice engineering or study anywhere in the world.
Congratulations to Dr. Rosana J. Ferolin, Dean of the USC School of Engineering (SOE), as well as to the SOE faculty members, staff, and to the entire Carolinian community for this shared global breakthrough.
