USC designated TEC Excellence Center, strengthens role in improving teacher education

Ceremonial signing of TEEC

The University of San Carlos is now an official Teacher Education Excellence Center (TEEC) hub for the Visayas.

Ceremonial signing of TEEC
Representing the University of San Carlos: Rolando V. Obiedo, Ph.D. (Dean, School of Education, far left) and Fr. Jesuraj Anthoniappen, SVD, Ph.D. (Vice President for Academic Affairs, far right).

The USC School of Education and the Teacher Education Council (TEC) formalized this partnership on March 9, 2026, at the Techzone Building, Makati City, Metro Manila.

Representing the University were Vice President for Academic Affairs Fr. Jesuraj Anthoniappen, SVD, Ph.D. and Dean of the School of Education Rolando V. Obiedo, Ph.D. Their participation reflects USC’s commitment to advancing teacher education and supporting national developmental efforts.

This initiative supports the Teacher Education Roadmap 2035 and Republic Act No. 11713. To fuel this mandate, the Department of Budget and Management and the TEC finalized a Joint Memorandum Circular during the ceremony, officially launching the program and securing immediate government funding.

As the designated Visayas hub, USC will serve as a research and innovation center. The University will pilot evidence-based programs and instructional resources to empower regional educators, school leaders, and stakeholders while strengthening national teaching practices.

USC joins an elite group of six regional hubs nationwide, including Philippine Normal University-Manila, University of the Philippines-Los Baños, Mindanao State University-Iligan Institute of Technology, Cotabato State University, Caraga State University, and Saint Louis University.
