The University of San Carlos signed a Memorandum of Understanding with Universitas Hasanuddin (UNHAS) in Indonesia during the Higher Education Partnerships Conference (HEPCON) 2026, which was organized by MSW Global, in partnership with the Commission on Higher Education (CHED), at Radisson Blu Hotel, Cebu City.

Inking this academic partnership officially brings both institutions together to collaborate on student and faculty mobility, research collaboration, and Transnational Higher Education (TNHE) programs.
Activities will initially start with the Marine Biology program and eventually extend to other disciplines commonly offered by the two institutions.
HEPCON 2026 convened higher education leaders, international relations officers, institutions, policymakers, and education professionals from across the region and beyond.
The sessions explored how ASEAN Higher Education Institutions (HEIs) can strategically respond to the changes brought by the rapid development of AI, automation, robotics, and emerging technologies as they change how students learn, how institutions operate, how educators teach, and how universities prepare graduates.
Panel discussions also examined opportunities for cross-border collaboration, international partnerships, innovation, and knowledge exchange to strengthen the region’s higher education ecosystem.
Establishing this linkage demonstrates how USC is committed to strengthening internalization efforts within the ASEAN region.
