USC secures ISO certification from the British Standards Institution for its student support services

As one of the leading higher education institutions (HEIs) in the Philippines, the University of San Carlos (USC) strives to provide quality education to its students by ensuring its processes are aligned with global standards and certifications.

In line with this, the University secured another Certificate of Registration on December 10, 2024 from the British Standards Institution (BSI), an international business standards company that helps organizations and institutions like USC provide excellent services to its stakeholders.

The Certification recognizes the University of San Carlos as an institution that “operates a Quality Management System which complies with the requirements of ISO 9001:2015” for student support services on student welfare, student development, and institutional student programs.

An ISO 9001 certification is a globally recognized standard for quality management systems, helping organizations improve their performance.

USC started building its QMS in 2012, starting by integrating different units into one system. As years passed, it resulted in the integration of various departments involved in the entire student experience, from admission to graduation.

Once the integrated system was in place, USC created formative programs to address the dynamic educational landscape. It added electives for students to venture into research, leadership, sports development, peer facilitation, and volunteerism.

The decade-long effort to streamline its processes resulted in the University’s ISO 9001:2015 certification on April 1, 2022, and eventually, its latest renewal beginning January 5, 2025 to January 1, 2028.

This renewed recognition from global, independent assessors like BSI showcases the University’s commitment to providing an Education with a Mission that is relevant, timely, and transformative, especially in an ever-changing educational landscape.
