The University of San Carlos (USC) Department of Philosophy will host the Philosophical Association of the Philippines (PAP) Midyear Conference on November 19–21, 2025, at the SAFAD Theater, USC Talamban Campus, in collaboration with the Philosophical Association of the Philippines (PAP) and the Polytechnic University of the Philippines (PUP).
With the theme “Philosophy at the Frontlines: AI, Sustainability, and the Struggle for Inclusive Progress,” the conference brings together scholars, educators, researchers, and students from across the country to address today’s most pressing social, ethical, and political challenges. The conference invites sustained philosophical engagement with issues such as artificial intelligence, environmental sustainability, and widening social inequalities.
As host, the Department of Philosophy affirms USC’s longstanding commitment to intellectual leadership and the advancement of philosophical inquiry in the Philippines. The three-day event includes plenary lectures, parallel paper presentations, and student-focused sessions that explore how philosophy can deepen understanding of technological disruption, ecological precarity, inclusive development, and the evolving horizons of human meaning.
The USC Department of Philosophy remains steadfast in its mission to promote rigorous philosophical education, research excellence, and public engagement. Hosting the PAP Midyear Conference highlights its vital role in shaping national discourse and nurturing the next generation of Filipino thinkers.
A preview of the conference speakers and their topics is available through the “Meet Our Speakers” feature on the PAP Facebook page.
