The University of San Carlos (USC), through its Department of Computer, Information Sciences, and Mathematics (DCISM), formalized a Memorandum of Understanding (MOU) with Alibaba Cloud, the digital technology and intelligence backbone of Alibaba Group, on October 16, 2025.
The partnership aims to enhance USC’s capacity for artificial intelligence (AI) innovation, cloud computing education, and industry-relevant digital competency development.

Alibaba Cloud Academy, the training and certification arm of Alibaba Cloud, provides more than 300 training courses, 250 hands-on laboratories and seven professional certifications targeted at learners from foundational to advanced levels.
Under the agreement, Alibaba Cloud Academy will collaborate with USC in building practical skills among students and faculty through training programs, certification pathways, and exposure to global practices in emerging technologies. The collaboration is designed to support the University’s ongoing efforts to prepare graduates for the demands of the digital economy in the Philippines and beyond.
Representing the University of San Carlos at the event were University President Fr. Francisco Antonio T. Estepa, SVD, Ph.D., and Angie M. Ceniza-Canillo, Ph.D., Chair, Department of Computer, Information Sciences, and Mathematics.
This MOU reinforces USC’s commitment to expanding its global linkages and offering students opportunities to acquire competencies needed in high-growth technology sectors. The collaboration also reflects the University’s broader mission to equip future professionals with innovation-focused skills that respond to regional and international workforce needs.
