The University of San Carlos College of Law won the Best Memorial Award at the 2025 Southeast Asian Regional Rounds (SEARR) of the Stetson International Environmental Moot Court Competition held on January 16–18, 2025 at Malcolm Hall, University of the Philippines Diliman, Quezon City, Philippines. 

Out of 27 teams from six countries, USC Law students Neil Glova Jr., Earl Max Eata, and Joanna Camille Aparece landed on the Top 3, reaching the semifinals. They also received the Southeast Asian Overall Best Memorial Award, besting UP Law and Singapore Management University. 

In mooting competitions, a memorial is a written submission in which each team presents their arguments, outlining the legal issues, their position, and relevant statutes, case law, and other legal precedents.

The USC Law team was mentored by Head Coach and Assistant USC Law Dean Atty. Daryl Bretch M. Largo along with Assistant Coaches Atty. Mark Lawrence Badayos and Atty. Rhomeljustein Redoble, with the support of Vice President for Administration Atty. Joan S. Largo, Ll.M. and USC Law Dean Atty. Jose Glenn C. Capanas. 

This year’s victory in the Southeast Asian Rounds continues USC Law’s tradition of success in national and international mooting tournaments. In 2016, USC Law won the 20th Annual International Environmental Moot Court Competition and received the Overall Best Memorial award. Assistant coach Atty. Badayos, then part of the USC mooting team, was also named Best Oralist in the final round. 

Qualifying for the international round of the 29th Stetson Moot Court Competition, the Carolinian team will compete in Florida, in the United States of America, on April 9–12, 2025.
