Personal Background

Jose Rodriguez Soberano III is the Chairman and President of the Philippine Stock Exchange-listed company Cebu Landmasters, Inc. He is also Chairman or President in nine other businesses that are engaged in property management and development. Prior to these ventures, he served in various capacities under the Ayala Group since 1977, including Ayala Investment and Development Corporation, Philippine Securities Corporation, Bank of the Philippine Islands Investment Corporation, and the Bank of the Philippine Islands, until his retirement in 2000.

Soberano is the son of retired Regional Trial Court Judge Jose Pono Soberano and the former Dolores Rodriguez. He is married to wife Ma. Rosario Borromeo Soberano, with whom he has four children. He completed a Bachelor of Arts in Economics from the Ateneo de Manila University in 1976, and had graduate studies in Strategic Business Economics from the University of Asia and the Pacific in 2000, as well as an Advanced Management Development Program from the Graduate School of Design of Harvard University in 2015.

Besides his business interests, he also has leadership positions as Chairman, President or Director in five organizations including the Center for Industrial Technology and Enterprise, Inc. and Children’s Hour Philippines, Inc. He is also past President of the Rotary Club of Cebu as well as the Chamber of Real Estate and Builders’ Association, Inc., Cebu Chapter. He is a Fellow of the Institute of Corporation Directors and is a member of the Capital Campaign Cabinet of Habitat for Humanity Philippines.

In 2017, Soberano received three awards namely Entrepreneur of the Year from the Cebu Chamber of Commerce, Extraordinary Men of Influence given by the Philippine Cancer Society, Inc., and Entrepreneur of the Year (Industry) awarded by Ernst and Young.
