Personal Background
Fr. Michael Tangente, SVD, is the Corporate Secretary of the University’s Board of Trustees. He is a missionary of the Society of the Divine Word and was ordained a priest on February 9, 2008. Hailing from Tubod, San Fernando, Cebu, he completed his B.S. Philosophy at the University of San Carlos in 1998 and earned a Bachelor in Sacred Theology from the Divine Word School of Theology in Tagaytay City. He then completed his Master of Arts in Pastoral Ministry, also from the Divine Word School of Theology, and is pursuing another master’s degree in hospital administration at the University of the Philippines Manila.
After spending his early years doing pastoral ministry in Quezon City and Ghana, Africa, he served as the Chief Executive Officer of the Holy Name University Medical Center in Tagbilaran City from 2016 to 2020. Since August 2020, he served as the Chaplain for the USC Senior High School department and starting August 2024 he was appointed as the Assistant Director of the Pastoral and Spiritual Care Division of the USC South Campus.
