The University of San Carlos is ranked 801–1000 in the 2026 Times Higher Education (THE) Sustainability Impact Ratings (previously Impact Rankings), continuing to improve its standing towards advancing sustainability and contributing to the attainment of the United Nations Sustainable Development Goals (U.N. SDGs).

The University continues to make an impact in SDGs 6, 7, and 8, improving in its scores for all three goals from last year’s rankings. SDG 6 is concerned with Clean Water and Sanitation, while SDG 7 rates Affordable and Clean Energy measures. SDG 8 evaluates Decent Work and Economic Growth.
USC ranked 201–300 in both SDGs 6 and 7, and was listed 301–400 for SDG 8. The University was ranked 401–600 in SDG 17, which is mandatory. Overall, USC submitted data for seven out of the 17 SDGs.

Consistent contribution to the SDGs
This is now the fourth straight year that USC has been listed in the only global rankings “measuring how institutions… advance sustainability.” USC was ranked 1501+ in 2024 and listed in the 1001-1500 bracket in 2025.
This consistency is attributed to USC’s commitment to sustainability in its campuses, including the utilization of clean, renewable energy in Talamban Campus and its partnerships with Dutch universities and local stakeholders including local government units in the Metro Cebu River Scan Challenge. This year, USC also hosted ECOVip’s curriculum reform workshop and global talks on sustainable ecotourism.
Notably, the University was also named as one of the Philippines’ Best Employers in 2025.
Previously, an overarching policy statement on the reduction of carbon emissions was released by the University administration in 2024.
There are 160 Philippine universities and colleges included in the 2026 THE Sustainability Impact Ratings; the ranking body listed 1,603 institutions worldwide.
USC is also ranked in the QS Sustainability Rankings 2026.
