Eng’g faculty members attend sustainable energy conference

USC faculty members headed by Engineering Dean Evelyn B. Taboada, Ph.D. attended the 1st International Conference on Climate Change and Sustainable Energy 2019 (CCSE-ASEAN) held on November 13, 2019 at the University of Jember, Indonesia.

The event was held in conjunction with two conferences, namely the 4th National Conference on Mechanical Engineering (SISTEM 2019) and the 2nd National Conference on Civil Engineering (KONTSI 2019) and was co-hosted by the University of San Carlos. Delegates from Indonesia, the Philippines, Taiwan, Germany and New Zealand participated in the conference.

Topics on sustainable manufacturing, energy, and renewable energy were presented in the morning by keynote speakers, which included Dean Taboada. Parallel sessions were held in the afternoon and a dinner gala including presentation of awards wrapped up the day.

USC delegates reaped six awards including best presenters given to Christopher James Labrador, Emelida Torrefranca, and Linda Saavedra, best paper to Cristina Lalisan and Katrina Marie Borgonia, and best article to Francis Mayo. Plans are formulated for holding the CCSE-ASEAN 2020 in the Philippines.
