The newly renovated Mosquito Research Laboratory of the Department of Biology was blessed and reopened on February 20, 2018 by Fr. Melchor Cagape, SVD (Head, Physical Plant Facilities Office) with Delia E. Belleza, Ph.D. (Dean, School of Arts and Sciences) and Frances E. Edillo, Ph.D. (principal investigator) in attendance.

Biology faculty members Dr. Antonio Batomalaque, Neriza Arche, and Antonio Tambuli, as well as Department of Physics collaborator Dr. Rommel Bacabac graced the reopening of the laboratory located at the Natural Sciences Research Complex, Arnoldus Science Building, University of San Carlos in Talamban Campus. Dr. Edillo’s research assistants Rhoniel Ryan Ymbong and Jenny Marie Patalinghug, and other faculty members, staff, and students also attended the blessing.

The laboratory includes an insectary for rearing mosquito samples, an isolation room for molecular biology, a buffer room where environmental chambers are located, and a working area where researchers can perform data analysis and hold meetings.
