Melvin Tezon.The 3rd Technopreneurship Workshop was held last June 11,13-15, 2018 at the Rigney Hall in the University of San Carlos-Talamban Campus. The event was organized by the USC Tech Hub and was facilitated by Dr. Angelo Cabije, USC Tech Hub Project Manager and Engr. Christine Marie Gohetia, USC Tech Hub Officer.

Graduate students of the University attended the four-day workshop along with faculty members from the University of Cebu and Cebu Institute of Technology University. The activity aimed to promote the integration of entrepreneurship with the technologies that are conceptualized in the academe and industry to establish technology-oriented businesses that will benefit the community. The said event also served as a training ground for the participants to facilitate in the upcoming implementation of Technopreneurship courses in their respective universities.

Included in the workshop were various topics that aimed at helping the participants to formulate a feasible business plan. The series of lectures included design thinking, product innovation, competitive advantage and market, intellectual property, business models, financial analysis, business ethics, and social responsibility. Lecturers included Engr. Christopher James Labrador, Engr. Van Patiluna, Engr. Warren Nuñez, Engr. Christine Marie Gohetia and Dr. Angelo Cabije. The lectures were complemented with output-based activities that allowed the participants to develop a marketable and profitable product or service that helps solve a certain problem in the society.

Two technopreneurs namely Engr. Melvin Tezon (Paku restaurant) and Engr. Kenneth Baylosis (MiCab app) took part in the evaluation and improvement of the business plans that were presented in the last day of the event. Further validation studies will be carried out by the business proponents in the following weeks to assess the viability and marketability of their proposed businesses.
