Carolinians win 1st place in quiz and programming competitions

USC’s engineering students won first place in both Quiz Show and Programming Competition during the Interscholastic Competition organized by the Institute of Electronics Engineers of the Philippines–Cebu Student Chapter on October 22–24, 2021.

Topping the quiz show was the Carolinian team composed of Sophia Dianne K. Bernardo, Mike Wenmar Y. Payo, Vincent Derwin M. Torcende, and Nico Louis E. Ubas with the guidance of their coach, Engr. Alberto S. Bañacia.

Aside from winning the quiz show, Payo and Bernardo together with Rochel V. Valle also bagged the top prize in the Programming Competition. Engr. Ellen Agnes Zafra served as their coach.

The programming languages of the competition were limited to C++, Java, and Python 3 while the quiz show covered mathematics, general engineering and applied sciences, electronics engineering, and electronics systems and technologies.

Our student-winners from USC’s Department of Electrical and Electronics Engineering will be representing Cebu in the finals round during the IECEP National Student Summit which will be held online from November 21 to 26.
